Geoffrey Arnold Beck was an English rock guitarist who lived from 24 June 1944 to 10 January 2023. With the Yardbirds, he first gained notoriety.

Later, he headlined the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. His albums covered a variety of styles, including blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, and a fusion of guitar-rock and electronica after he transitioned to a primarily instrumental style in 1975.

Who is Jeff Beck’s wife Sandra Cash?

Jeff and Sandra Beck tied the knot in 2005. In 1969, he became a vegetarian. He supported the Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust.

He was interested in historic Ford hot rods and did much of the work on the cars’ exteriors and engines himself. Beck lived in Wadhurst, East Sussex.

Beck was hired by the Yardbirds in March 1965 to replace Eric Clapton, who had been replaced by fellow session musician Jimmy Page. The Yardbirds recorded the majority of their Top 40 hit songs during Beck’s brief but notable 20-month time with the band, affording him only one full album, Roger the Engineer (named Over Under Sideways Down in the United States), released in 1966.

Beck released an instrumental named “Beck’s Bolero” in May 1966. Instead of Yardbirds members, he was accompanied by Page on 12-string rhythm guitar, Keith Moon on drums, John Paul Jones on bass, and Nicky Hopkins on piano.

Page joined the Yardbirds in June, initially on bass and subsequently on second lead guitar.

This twin lead-guitar configuration was filmed performing “Stroll On,” a reworking of “Train Kept A-Rollin'” for the 1966 Michelangelo Antonioni film Blow Up.
