About Tiger Zinda Hai
When I started writing this film, this was not supposed to be Ek Tha Tiger sequel. I wrote it individually not thinking that it will become Tiger Zinda Hai. I wrote a completely fictional story about this real incident that happened in 2014, where 46 Indian nurses were taken hostage by ISIS in Iraq. A lot of negotiation went between the Indian government and ISIS and then after ten days, they had released. So I then wrote a completely fictional story and it has nothing to do with the real event. It is not a political film at all. It’s a very human story. It’s a story about what’s happening in the world today. The story that lingers between what is wrong and what is right and whereas humans we are going. Tiger tells you the same story. Having said that, Tiger Zinda Hai is a complete fictional take on the crisis and our version of what Tiger would do in case a crisis was to happen for him to resolve. It talks about peace and brotherhood through the situation of these trapped nurses. So when I bounced this idea off people, including Kabir, they got excited about it.
It wasn’t difficult to convince Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif
To convince both the actors was not difficult because both of them reacted very strongly to the story and what I was trying to do this story. The film starts after 8 years where Ek Tha Tiger finished. So when they understood what I was trying to do with the film they both went for the story. They reacted very happily. I had worked with Salman In Sultan and Katrina is my good friend. She has worked with me in my first film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) which was a hit. It’s like friends working together.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's chemistry
Salman and Katrina have a great chemistry. They know each other for long, and the rest is done by the right script, music, and scenes. Then the chemistry increases. But if you know Salman anyone falls in love with him while working. He had a great chemistry even with his all actress. He may be known as a so-called action hero, but the way he handles romance is beautiful.
High octane action
Yes, I have presented Salman Khan as an action superstar, not as a superman. Like a real trained agent, he has learned Mixed Martial Arts, gun technology and how to handle explosions. We have very war-like action, for agents are trained to use whatever is at hand. Salman Khan is already known as one of the last action stars that are left. He is really good when he does that action. The idea was to make it different from the other films. We have treated it a war film. He's a trained agent. He comes from army background so he knows how to use guns. Physically he's agile. So the action has written within the story. It's very believable action. Indian audiences are now more demanding. We are seeing so much international stuff, and we have technology, expertise, and vision to match those standards. This is good because it puts pressure on filmmakers to deliver quality action. If every other industry is going international, the film industry will also do this.
